NEW PR0NOGRAPHERS release a video for "Crash Years." (You might need to select the 480p version to get it to run properly.)

THE NATIONAL played a mini-set at World Cafe Live. Aaron Dessner and singer Matt Berninger spoke to Pitchfork about how the band has changed over the years, how embarrassing it is to be on stage, and how they feel about their "lost" albums.

GRAHAM PARKER also played a mini-set at World Cafe Live.

ARCADE FIRE: Live clips of new songs surface.

TEENAGE FANCLUB is streaming their Shadows, and is profiled at the Times of London.

BLACK MOUNTAIN reveals "Old Fangs" as an advance track from their upcoming Wilderness Heart.

PRINCE dropped "Hot Summer" in time for his 52nd birthday. Not a classic, but not bad, symbol-dude.

OWEN PALLETT covers "Game of Pricks," for The A.V. Club Undercover, which put me in mood of the Guided by Voices original classic, natch.

MOUNTAIN MAN: Inspired by the traditional folk, country and Appalachian stylings of Gillian Welch, this trio are the female Fleet Foxes.

MAVIS STAPLES talks to Pitchfork about her upcoming LP, which features production by and songs from Wilco's Jeff Tweedy.

SLEIGH BELLS talk to Exclaim about Spike Jonze, M.I.A. and being years ahead of their dreams.

LINDSAY LOHAN's court-ordered alcohol-monitoring bracelet was trigged Sunday evening during an MTV Movie Awards afterparty. Judge Marsha Revel issued a bench warrant for her arrest on Tuesday; new bail has been set at 200K. UPDATE: The bench warrant for Lindsay Lohan's arrest has been recalled

CHARLIE SHEEN's plea deal hit a snag.  Apparently, the woman who supervises the work release program said she wasn't going to honor the deal because she had problems with the way it was structured.

HEIDI MONTAG officially filed for legal separation from Spencer Pratt. The real deal, or doubling down on a hoax?

TOM CRUISE says a Les Grossman movie is in the works.

THE MTV MOVIE AWARDS ratings were down, despite appearances by much of the cast from the night's big winner -- "Twilight: New Moon" -- and the much-hyped debuts of trailers for the latest installments of both the "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" franchises. Oddly, the network apologized for the frequent profanity unleashed during the show.

GEMMA ARTERTON (Quantum of Solace, Prince of Persia) has wed on the sly.

MICHAEL FASSBENDER (Inglourious Basterds) will likely turn up as a villain in X Men: First Class or Spider-Man 4.

EMMYS ROUNDTABLE: Ty Burrell, Ted Danson, Aziz Ansari, Neil Patrick Harris, Ed Helms, and Jim Parsons talk comedy.

JAMES CAMERON says his comments last week that the British oil giant is a bunch of "morons" were "taken out of context."

NORTH KOREA: Kim Jong Il shook up his country's leadership ranks in a move that appeared part of a broad strategy to consolidate his power before he passes control to his son.

AFGHANISTAN: Afghan observers and Western officials are interpreting the forced resignations of Afghanistan's two top security officials as another worrying sign of President Hamid Karzai's increasingly impulsive decision making and deepening isolation from his backers, both within Afghanistan and abroad. The International Crisis Group is concerned about the Afghan military unimprovement.

IRAQ: President Jalal Talabani on Tuesday called the first session of Iraq's new parliament for June 14, more than three months after an inconclusive election that has yet to yield a government.

OVERTURNED TORTOISE AID: Let's go to the video.

A DECADES-OLD CHIMP-NAPPING STORY still makes for good reading.

A VET had to be rescued by firefighters after she became trapped when the horse she was sedating fell asleep on top of him.

SHE & HIM: "In the Sun" and the dancetastic (500) Days of Summer version of "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?" are your twofer Tuesday, because Ken King and I got to see the duo last night.  Barely, that is. Millenium Park was a mob scene and the crowd control was sufficiently bad that folks on the lawn really couldn't see the band, except by chance.  That being said -- and without a close enough view of Zooey Deschanel to distract me -- I can report that M Ward runs a tight band with well-drilled harmonies.  Ken and I did sneak alongside the pavillion near the end of the set for a better view, though the band was still pretty small (and Zooey smaller still) .  The encores were pretty much the same as at Coachella -- covers of "Roll Over Beethoven" (letting M take the lead) and "I Put a Spell on You" (letting Zooey go at full blast), though I think both sounded better live than on the Tube. What you miss in that last clip is M Ward niftily looping a lick over a riff before escorting Zooey offstage. I recommend you see 'em... but then again, I recommend I see 'em next time. UPDATE: Here's the Chicago take on "I Put a Spell on You."

THE RASCALS cover Smokey Robinson's "Mickey's Monkey," because it's been over 9 months since I last linked it.

NPR has become a major player on the indie rock scene. The WaPo figures out what regular visitors here have known for years.

FRIGHTENED RABBIT: Scott Hutchison talks to The Scensestar about the new album, missing the Coachella festival due to the volcano and, well, mixed drinks.

BAND OF HORSES: Ben Bridwell talks to the Wall Street Journal about becoming a free agent and almost going bankrupt in the process.

Plus, his thoughts on shows like The X Factor: "That's just a cancer in our society.  It really is.  It focuses totally on the aroma rather than the taste - it's all about the by-product of making music..."  (Thx, Chromewaves.)

BROKEN BELLS are profiled by the Boston Globe.

THE SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP: The Independent surveys the cross-polination of rock across the Anglosphere.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: Shrek Forever After threepeats as the champ with 25.3 million, in a weekend that shows both the level of disarray among the competition and the power of holding 3-D screens at your local cineplex.  Get Him to The Greek places with a 17.4 million debut against a 40 million budget, which likely makes it another repeat of the successful Apatow production formula (keep the budget down).  It will likely finish somewhere around 100 million, about twice as much as the total for Apatow's more costly Funny People.  OTOH, Killers shows with a 16.1 million debut against a 75 million budget -- and that was at the low end of projections.  Ashton Kutcher's last two projects went straight to DVD, but this one cost too much. Good thing Lionsgate sold the foreign rights to cut their exposure.  Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time drops a notch -- and 54 percent -- to the fourth slot, with 13.9 million. Overseas receipts will have to save this 200-million price tag.  Sex & the City 2 plummeted 59 percent to the bottom of the Top 5 with 12.7 million; it has made 73.4 million, but the original had broken the 100 million mark at this point in its run.  Below the fold, Marmaduke's 6th place, 11.3 million opening (against a 50 million budget) helps explain why Shrek remains at the top, while Splice about as disappointingly in eigth place with about 7.5 million against a 30 million budget.

GARY COLEMAN's parents have withdrawn their court bid over their son's body.

TIGER WOODS: Elin Nordegren packed up the couple's two kids to visit her brother in Shanghai, China, according to RadarOnline.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON apparently skipped the photoshoot for Esquire's "Women We Love" cover in May -- but it's impossible to complain for getting Christian Hendricks instead.

AMY WINEHOUSE's new boyfriend has a girlfriend, and has for about two years.

IRAN: The French Defense Minister said on Sunday that France and Saudi Arabia share the same "concerns" about Iran's nuclear programme, adding that he discussed the issue in Riyadh.

AFGHANISTAN: Coalition forces killed a Taliban commander with links to al Qaeda and the training of fighters in Iran during an airstrike in the southwestern Afghan province of Farah.

IRAQ: Iraqi and American forces have killed or captured 34 of the top 42 leaders of Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia, cutting off the terrorist organization from its foreign sponsors and raising questions about whether it can reconstitute, the senior American commander in Iraq said.  Authorities in Iraq have refused to renew weapons permits for thousands of Sunni fighters belonging to Awakening Councils.

CAT vs. SNAKE: Let's go to the video.

HUNTING BRUCE: On The Trail Of The 'Jaws' Shark.

A ROGUE ROOSTER has been disturbing the peace north of the border.
