WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: Happy Death Day topped the chart with 26.5MM against a 4.8MM budget. Blade Runner 2049 placed with 15.1MM on a 54 percent drop, not nearly leggy enough for a filmwith a reported 150MM budget (and a rumored 185MM budget). The Foreigner showed with 12.8MM against a 35MM budget, which is largely irrelevant given the 66.8MM it made in Jackie Chan's home nation of China. It takes the fourth slot with 6MM on a leggy 40 percent drop; the clown could edge out Spider-Man for the top five grosses of 2017. The Mountain Between Us rounded out the weekend's Top Five with 5.7MM on a 47 percent drop, which will likely place it in the breakeven category.

HARVEY WEINSTEIN's contract may have contained what a friend of mine dubbed a "pay to prey" clause, pretty much the opposite of what you see in moset showbiz contracts. The Weinstein Co. was aware of prior payoffs at the time.  Weinstein pleaded his case for getting a second chance in Hollywood on his way to "rehab" in Arizona — but he also seemed to take a parting shot at the celebs who've been bashing him.  That list now includes Lea Seydoux (Spectre) and Claire Forlani (Mallrats, Meet Joe Black).

HARVEY WEINSTEIN: More women tell Ronan Farrow they were sexually harassed or assaulted by the former mogul, including Asia Argento, Mira Sorvino and Rosanne Arquette. BTW, Farrow works for NBC, so why is this story being broken at The New Yorker, hmmmm?  The NYT has still more claims, including from Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie.  And Variety has a claim from Heather Graham.  Meanwhile,  Georgina Chapman, Weinstein's wife, is leaving him.  AND Harvey is now jetting to Amsterdam for sex rehab, tho his his behavior seems far more malignant than a mere addiction. No doubt it's the first step in his already-planned comeback, though srsly who is going to give this guy money to make movies or donate to politicians anymore?

MATT DAMON verrry carefully denied being part of Weinstein's effort to kill a 2004 NYT story about his activities in Italy.
