The Foreigner showed with 12.8MM against a 35MM budget, which is largely irrelevant given the 66.8MM it made in Jackie Chan's home nation of China. It takes the fourth slot with 6MM on a leggy 40 percent drop; the clown could edge out Spider-Man for the top five grosses of 2017. The Mountain Between Us rounded out the weekend's Top Five with 5.7MM on a 47 percent drop, which will likely place it in the breakeven category.

HARVEY WEINSTEIN's contract may have contained what a friend of mine dubbed a "pay to prey" clause, pretty much the opposite of what you see in moset showbiz contracts. The Weinstein Co. was aware of prior payoffs at the time.  Weinstein pleaded his case for getting a second chance in Hollywood on his way to "rehab" in Arizona — but he also seemed to take a parting shot at the celebs who've been bashing him.  That list now includes Lea Seydoux (Spectre) and Claire Forlani (Mallrats, Meet Joe Black).
