RONNIE SPECTOR, the lead singer of the Ronettes, the 1960s vocal trio that gave a passionate, bad-girl edge to pop’s girl-group sound with hits like “Be My Baby,” “Baby, I Love You,” "Do I Love You," "I Can Hear Music,"  “The Best Part of Breakin’ Up” and my personal favorite, “Walking in the Rain,” died on Wednesday after “a brief battle with cancer.” She was 78.  My love for Ronnie and the Spectorverse dates to the early 80s, years before she would re-enter the charts dueting with Eddie Money on "Take Me Home Tonight."  Here are the obits at The Guardian and Rolling Stone.  The tributes poured in from Money, Brian Wilson, Dave Davies, Steve Van Zandt, and more.
