THE BEST & WORST REPLACEMENT SINGERS, according to Consequence of Sound

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: Fast and Furious 6 opens with a fast and furious 120 million over the Memorial Day weekend (which is historically uneven).Vin Diesel & Co. are a long way to recouping the 160 million budget right off the line.  The Hangover, Part III places with 51 million, despite bad reviews... but it will likely end up well short of the prior sequel. (Would this have done better over July 4th opposite the Lone Ranger than the F & F franchise?) Star Trek: Into Darkness shows with 47  million; it now has 155.8 million domestic andd another 100 million so worldwide... but Will Smith is coming with After Earth this Friday.  Epic debuted in the fourth slot with 42.6 million against a 100 million budget; that's okay, but the studio will hope for proportionately larger overseas grosses.  Iron Man 3 rounds out the Top Five with another 24.4 million and will likely land among the top 20 alltime grossers by next weekend.

AMANDA BYNES claims she's allergic to drugs and alcohol and is suing everyone over her mistaken arrest. And that Chris Brown beat Rhianna because she's ugly.  Meanwhile, Internal Affairs are looking into her allegations of sexual assault.  The hitch is that she's not certifiably crazy. Yet.

CHRIS BROWN says he did nothing wrong when he was involved in a minor fender bender last week ... and claims the other driver has been ducking his attempts to discuss the matter. TMZ has learned the LAPD is investigating the singer, and it could trigger a probation violation that could land him in prison.

TURKEY: Some 20 knife-wielding Islamists attacked 200 people staging a "kissing protest" in Ankara; at least protester was injured. The protest arose after authorities in Ankara, which is administered by the Islamist Freedom and Justice Party, admonished a couple for kissing in the street, and announced that subway passengers must obey moral codes. Although the police tried to prohibit the protest, they failed.

LIBYA: Prime Minister Zeidan denied allegations that the jihadists who attacked a military base and a uranium mine in Niger on May 23 came from Libya. Both Algeria and Niger have made the allegations, which if true suggest that Mokhtar Belmokhtar, who has claimed the attacks along with MUJAO, has established a base in southern Libya.

SYRIA: No one knows precisely how many Iraqi volunteers are crossing the border to fight in Syria, but it is clear there are enough to keep a steady stream of corpses returning home for burial.

IRAN: State media claimed that Iran has fielded a "massive" quantity of missile launchers that will allow the Iranian military to "crush the enemy" with simultaneous fire from long-range surface-to-surface missiles. The claim could not be independently verified.
