NEW RELEASES: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness repeats atop the chart with 61MM on a 67 percent drop that has to be concerning if not alarming  to Marvel, as well as the B+ CinemaScore. The Bad Guys places with 7MM on a 28 percent drop.  Sonic the Hedgehog 2 shows with 4.55MM on a 24 percent drop.  Firestarter flamed out with a 3.8MM debut that is less than the 1984 original's 4.7MM.  Everything Everywhere All at Once took in another 6.6MM on a 6 percent drop and could yet become the highest grossing film from the A24 studio.

FRED WARD, who starred in films including "Henry and June," "Tremors," "The Right Stuff" and "The Player," died May 8. He was 79.
