PATE REUNION UPDATE: I am excited to announce that Jon, Mike & Jon (and we hope Ron) will be retaking a stage somewhere near Iowa State University on July 5th, 2013, just one short decade after their last reunion gig. Clear your calendar for something transcendent, a train wreck, or both! If you're on the Facebook, check in with the event page. LEROY "SUGARFOOT" BONNER, frontman for the hit-making funk music band the Ohio Players, has died. He was 69. Thus, we roll out "Love Rollercoaster" and "Fire" (which starts with a Munsters allusion) for Twofer Tuesday. NEW RELEASES from Tegan & Sara, Adam & Binki, Eric Burdon, The History of Apple Pie, and more stream this week via Spinner. FRIGHTENED RABBIT is advance streaming Pedestrian Verse. EELS are advance streaming Wonderful, Glorious. JESSIE WARE brings her British R & B to Morning Becomes Eclectic. THE BOOMTOWN RATS will perform at the Isle of Wight festival, playing together for the first time since 1986. So let's roll out "Rat Trap" and "Someone's Looking At You" for Twofer Twofer Tuesday. JIM JAMES of My Morning Jacket talks to Stereogum about his new solo LP and much more. RADIOHEAD: Thom Yorke talks to Dazed and Confused about producers, inspiraion, writer's block and more. (Thx, LHB.) ADAM ANT talks to All Things Considered about taking time off to be an actor and a parent, storyboarding his own music videos, struggling with bipolar disorder and moving from the U.K. to Los Angeles to rural Tennessee. XTC: The Guardian features a vintage interview from Rock's Backpages. LINDSAY LOHAN was freaked out by her sex scene in The Canyons, according to co-star James Deen. CHRIS BROWN is under investigation of assaulting Frank Ocean over a parking space at a recording studio. RICK ROSS crashed his Rolls-Royce while escaping gunfire. ASHTON KUTCHER & MILA KUNIS are probably not moving to London. JUSTIN BIEBER is singing about his split from Selena Gomez. TAYE DIGGS single-handedly apprehended a guy who tried to break into his home after the SAG Awards. BRADLEY COOPER denies rumors that he will play disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong in an upcoming J.J. Abrams-directed biopic. PAUL GIAMATI may play The Rhino in the Spider-Man reboot sequel. THE UNITED STATES military plans to establish an additional drone base in Africa, most likely in Niger, for better surveillance of al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and affiliated groups in Africa's northwest. FRANCE urged donor nations to honor pledges of support for a viable Syrian opposition, warning that delay raises the risk extremists will prevail in Syria. MALI: Islamists fleeing Timbuktu torched a major historical library before French and Malian troops arrived. BAHRAIN: Opposition groups said they are willing to open dialogue with the government over the country's long-running political crisis. IRAN claims it launched a monkey into space. EGYPT: Protesters and riot police clashed in Cairo and Port Said for a fifth day in spite of President Morsi's declaration of a state of emergency on Sunday; 50 people have died in the violence so far. Morsi's call for national dialogue was rejected by the main opposition alliance. DOGS On Skype. My favorite part of this may be the dude in the background. A CANCER-STRICKEN DOG feasts on an epic last meal. A PENGUIN on the verge of a very bad day indeed. A TORTOISE has been found alive in Brazil - after more than 30 years locked away in a storeroom.

TINA TURNER will soon receive Swiss citizenship and will give up her US passport, Swiss media reported Friday. GET OFF MY LAWN: Coachella edition. WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: For the traditionally awful post-MLK weekend, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters tops the chart with 19 million. It was expected to clear 25 million, esp. given the 3-D premium -- but with a 50 million budget, the studio won't lose much. Mama places with 12.9 million, but with a 48.6 million total against a 15 million budget. Silver Linings Playbook holds the third slot with a leggy 10 million; it has made 69 million to date against a 15 million budget and could make 100 million if it takes home some Oscars. Zero Dark Thirty slips past SLP to fourth place with 9.8 million; ZD30 has made just a bit more than SLP against a higher 40 million budget. The debut of Parker rounds out the Top 5 with 7 million. Below the fold, Django Unchained becomes the Weinstein Company's biggest film evah, with close to 200 million worldwide, while Movie 43 opened in seventh place with 5 million against a 6 million budget. THE SAG AWARDS went to these folks, with the big win going (somewhat surprisingly) to Argo. Congrats. KIM KARDASHIAN & KRIS HUMPHRIES: Did he turn down a 10 million dollar divorce settlement? Or is she refusing to pay him a dime and demanding legal fees? LIBERTY ROSS has filed for divorce from Rupert Sanders, after he got caught with Kristen Stewart. MANTI TE'O Hoax mastermind Ronaiah Tuiasosopo's pretty young cousin played the part of “Lennay Kekua,” the fake girlfriend. HEIDI KLUM table danced for Jay Leno. TIGER WOODS... and Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn? BURT REYNOLDS is leaving the ICU after battling a scary case of the flu this week. AMANDA SEYFRIED talks to Indiewire about Lovelace and why Mean Girls is still her best work. JUSTICE LEAGUE: Who will be left out of DC's answer to The Avengers? THE COEN BROTHERS have released the first trailer for their upcoming folk-rock film Inside Llewyn Davis. THE UNITED STATES Defense Department warned that threatened budget cuts would adversely affect the war in Afghanistan. EGYPT: Pres. Morsi declared on Sunday a 30-day state of emergency and night curfew in the three Suez Canal provinces hit hardest by a wave of violence that has left more than 50 dead in three days. MALI: French and Malian troops are securing Timbuktu; the Islamist fighters who have held it for months appear to have fled. Residents say the fleeing fighters dress as civilians and head for the Mauritanian border. IRAN: A senior official said Iran would consider any attack on Syria as an attack on itself. SYRIA: As fighting continued over the strategically important city of Homs, the government brought in pro-regime militia to target civilians. Government troops attacked rebels in Damascus. LIBYA: The Foreign Minister warned that extremists networking in the Sahel have an Afghan connection and recommended strict control of the Algeria-Mali border. A GOAT takes on the media. RABBITS Wreaking Havoc On Cars At DIA. MELLOW MICE chewed into and nested in three bags of marijuana in the Wichita Police Department’s evidence and property building. DUNG BEETLES can navigate using the starry sky and the glow from the Milky Way, new research shows.
