FLEET FOXES play "Sim Sala Bim" on Fallon.

ART BRUT is advance streaming Brilliant! Tragic! at Paste, alongside an interview with Eddie Argos (who also talks to Rock Edition, via LHB.)

RODNEY CROWELL did three free songs for Daytrotter.

ANNA CALVI plays a full video set in Paris.

BLIND BOYS OF ALABAMA played a set The Queen in Wilmington, Del.

ABBA: "Dancing Queen," because it's Newt Gingrich's ringtone.

TITUS ANDRONICUS: Patrick Stickles wrote the Village Voice an in-depth meditation on alternative music in general -- and the Replacements in particular in connection with the Our Band Could Be Your Life tribute concert. Good reading, though I disagree with a fair amount of it.

OUR BAND COULD BE YOUR LIFE: Speaking of the tribute concert, the Village Voice also talked to electronic composer/dance machine Dan Deacon (who is covering The Butthole Surfers); Jenn Wasner of Baltimore quiet-loud duo Wye Oak (who are covering Dinosaur Jr.); and DIY veteran Ted Leo (who is covering Minor Threat) about finding inspiration and linking the past to the future.

THE FALL's Mark E. Smith answers a battery of general questions, including his favorite smell, at The Guardian.

THE NATIONAL's Brooklyn digs.

MICK JAGGER has teamed up with Joss Stone, Dave Stewart, Damian Marley and AR Rahman to form a new supergroup, reports say.

JOSEPH BROOKS, the Oscar-winning songwriter of 'You Light Up My Life' who was accused of multiple counts of rape, was found dead in New York of an apparent suicide.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: No surprise here, as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides tops the chart with 90 million. That seems impressive, but Pirates 3 took in 114 million in its Fri-Sun opening, and 153 million if you add the Thursday night sales.  Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz are both big international draws, which probably ensures a healthy profit on a reported 250 million budget (the pic has already grossed another 92 million overseas). However, the bloom is off the rose (and Orlando Bloom is likely glad he's off the screen).  Bridesmaids holds at No. 2 with 21 million, a mere 20 percent drop as the obvious counter-programming to Pirates; Wiig & Co have taken in 59.5 million against a 32.5 million budget.  Thor takes a big 55 percent drop in the third slot (which had to be expected with Pirates opening), taking in 15.5 million.  The God of Thunder has nearly recouped its 150 million budget domestically, and made another 200 million so far overseas.  Fast Five also took a hefty hit in the fourth slot, dropping 48 percent and making 10.6 million.  Even so, this F&F is well in the black.  Rio rounds out the Top Five, dropping 44 percent and making 4.7 million; it's also well in the black.  Below the Fold, Priest flames out, while Jumping the Broom is returning big on its investment.  Next Thursday brings sequesl to Kung Fu Panda and The Hangover.

THE GOSSIP MACHINE, Churning Out Cash.  A lengthy piece explaining how links you see here get made.

ARNOLD & MARIA: Schwarzenegger has ceased all acting projects, including his anticipated return to the Terminator franchise. Arnold made a 65000 down payment on a house for his ex-housekeeper less than a year before he admitted to fathering her child. And the ever-reliable Sun reports that Schwarzenegger groped his baby mama's sister and mother.

LINDSAY LOHAN obtained a restraining order against an alleged stalker who has been so aggressive, she fears he could commit sexual assault against her.

BRITNEY SPEARS and Jason Trawick have cut their business ties... but not their personal one.
