GORDON LIGHTFOOT, the Canadian singer/songwriter whose most enduring works include, “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Sundown,” “Carefree Highway,” “Early Morning Rain,” “Rainy Day People,” and “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” has died. He was 84. Here's the NYT obit. It's been good to know him.

TIM BACHMAN, guitarist and founding member of Canadian rock group Bachman-Turner Overdrive, died Friday after battling cancer. He was 71.
