DAVID BYRNE & ST VINCENT play "Who" and "The Forest Awakes" on Fallon.

THE KILLERS are advance streaming Battle Born via iTunes.

MAYER HAWTHORNE played 1st Ave in Mpls; you can stream the whole gig on demand.

BAND OF HORSES is advance streaming Mirage Rock.

ANIMAL COLLECTIVE stopped by World Cafe for a chat and mini-set, including a previously unreleased tune.

MENOMENA is advance streaming Moms.

ROBERT POLLARD is streaming new tracks from Jack Sells the Cow, daily.

THE CONTOURS: "Do You Love Me?"

GRIZZLY BEAR: Ed Droste swung by Turntable.fm (and Stereogum) to spin tunes and chat about the writing process, Beyoncé, why he wouldn't be on American Idol, and why fans should all be writing thank you notes to Santa Claus.

BAT FOR LASHES: Natasha Khan talks to The Observer about finding peace in a patch of dahlias, posing naked - and why Björk keeps her sane.

ROXY MUSIC: On their 40th anniversary, The Observer essays their career.

SONIC YOUTH, ranked by Stereogum.

12 EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING FACTS About Popular Music. The sales facts much more depressing than the chart facts (charts in the Internet Age are no big achievement).

BRITNEY SPEARS struck a settlement with the former bodyguard who claimed the pop star was a genital-flashing sexual harasser during his time with the singer.

RYAN REYNOLDS & BLAKE LIVELY had an intimate wedding, courtesy of Martha Stewart. The music was provided by Florence Welch.

ANNA PAQUIN & STEPHEN MOYER recently welcomed their twins into the world.

RANDY JACKSON closes a last-minute deal to return to the judging table at American Idol.

TARA REID was a drunken mess in St. Tropez this weekend - sloppily stumbling into a parked motorcycle, sending the bike and herself crashing to the ground.

EMMA WATSON: The most dangerous celeb on the web.

SHERYL CROW suspects that her benign brain tumor may have been caused by her cell phone, but "there are no doctors that will confirm that."

KATIE COURIC: Not off to an auspicious start in daytime.

PROMETHEUS: 10 minutes of deleted footage leaks ahead of the DVD release.

YEMEN: "Now, the war against al-Qaeda is more dangerous than before."

EGYPT: Thousands of Egyptian demonstrators tore down the Stars and Stripes at the US embassy in Cairo on Tuesday and replaced it with an Islamic flag on the annniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States. Hardline Islamist supporters of the Salafist movement gathered at the embassy in protest over a film deemed offensive to the Prophet Mohammed which was produced by expatriate members of Egypt's Christian minority resident in the United States. And the US embassy sided against (admittedly crude) free speech and with the Islamists.  Hours and hours later, the White House disavowed the embassy statement...anonymously.  And Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke out by name.

LIBYA? Same thing. An armed mob protesting over a film they said offended Islam, attacked the US consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi on Tuesday and set fire to the building, witnesses reported. A US official has been killed and others wounded.  This is why the US was throwing free speech under the bus in Cairo; just trying to keep the daeth toll down. Maybe a smart short-term move, but medium-term...

IRAN: The UN atomic agency has received new and significant intelligence over the past month that Iran has advanced its work on calculating the destructive power of an atomic warhead through a series of computer models that it ran sometime within the past three years.

PAKISTAN: McDonald's is at the center of a row over Islamic values in Pakistan after a customer complained he was told not to sit beside his wife because managers feared it would damage the restaurant's family reputation.

OSCAR the RACCOON performs a dental exam on a patient patient.

THE SWARM: Honeybees hijacked three airplanes at India's Kolkata airport.

BATS are decreasing, but lunch prices are increasing. That's the word from last Tuesday's meeting of the Montezuma-Cortez School District Re-1 Board.

A SWEDISH WOMAN could face criminal charges after harbouring a hedgehog in her flat in violation of the country's hunting laws. Dinsdale!
