ECLIPSE SONGS: Ten of The Best.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: The Hitman's Bodyguard tops the chart with 21.6MM, well ahead of industry predictions in the mid-teens. Annabelle: Creation places with 15.5MM on a 56 percent drop that's not bad for a horror film. Logan Lucky shows with 8MM, which is a bit disappointing, even against a 29MM budget. Dunkirk takes the fourth slot with 6.7MM and approaches 400MM worldwide. The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature rounds out the top five as it falls 39 percent to 5.1MM.

LOGAN LUCKY: The theft in this movie get called the "Hillbilly Heist" and "Ocean's 7-11," both of which would have been an apt title for this latest film ofrom Oceans' director Steven Soderbergh.  Like the Ocean's, Logan Lucky assembles a fine ensemble cast in service of a smart, twisty script that walks a fine line between respect and mockery of its Appalachian milieu. A comedy for our times.

JERRY LEWIS, the comedian and filmmaker who was adored by many, disdained by others, but unquestionably a defining figure of American entertainment in the 20th century, died on Sunday morning at his home in Las Vegas. He was 91. I will always remember him for his personal craziness during the final hours of MDA telethons in the 1970s, and for a riveting performance in The King of Comedy, which suggested a vast, untapped capacity for drama.

DICK GREGORY, the pioneering black satirist who transformed cool humor into a barbed force for civil rights in the 1960s, then veered from his craft for a life devoted to protest and fasting in the name of assorted social causes, health regimens and conspiracy theories, died Saturday in Washington. He was 84.
