THE WEEKEND STARTS HERE:

... with GRAM PARSONS! As a member of both The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers, and as a solo artist, Parsons anticipated the so-called country rock of the 1970s and the alt-country movement that began around 1990. There is not a lot of GP video floating around, but "Christine's Tune" is a good place to start, though the video for "Older Guys" is great because someone made them go out to christen Judge Smails' sloop. The Hell's Angels make an unfortunate cameo in the clip of "Six Days on the Road" from the infamous Altamont festival in 1969. The posthumous video for "Sin City" is nice also. BONUS: Dwight Yoakum covers "Wheels" at a Parsons tribute concert. DOUBLE BONUS: Frequent duet partner Emmylou Harris covers "Return of the Grievous Angel" with Ryan Adams (and Buddy Miller on bass) at a different tribute.

NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL: Paste shares videos from their late 90s peak.

BULLY virtually visits The Current.

JOHANNA WARREN visits with World Cafe.

ALL SONGS CONSIDERED features Ólafur Arnalds, First Aid Kit, and more.

SUFJAN STEVENS shares "America."

TOM PETTY: Hear the demo for "Wildflowers."

THE GO-GOS documentary director Alison Ellwood and Jane Wiedlin talk to KCRW.

DIRTY PROJECTORS: The Aquarium Drunkard Interview.

FRUIT BATS: Eric D. Johnson has spent lockdown making a chilled, blissful version of Smashing Pumpkins‘ landmark 1993 alt-rock album ‘Siamese Dream'.

TODD NANCE, founding drummer and 30-year member of the Southern rock jam band Widespread Panic, has died at the age of 57.

BEN AFFLECK is returning as Batman in the upcoming Flash movie which Warner Bros. is putting into production. It is to be a cameo role. And, yes, Affleck will be playing the Dark Knight alongside Michael Keaton, Batman from the 1989 Tim Burton film, in what is billed by Flash director Andy Muscietti as a "substantial" part.

KANYE WEST is off the ballot in Wisconsin.

OLIVIA WILDE may direct Marvel's Spider-Woman.
