FAYE HUNTER, the founding bassist of the Mitch Easter-led jangle-pop outfit Let’s Active who played on the band’s 1983 debut EP Afoot and follow-up full-length Cypress in 1984, died Saturday night in Advance, N.C., of an apparent suicide. EGYPT: Clashes between supporters and opponents of former president Morsi wounded 112 people in Suez, and left at least four people dead near Cairo. A health ministry official said 21 people have been killed in attacks in the Sinai since Morsi's ouster. Authorities arrested 18 terrorists who were reportedly planning attacks on foreign embassies, and extended the detention of seven people accused of forming a terrorist group. The family of former president Morsi said they plan to take legal action against the army, which they accuse of abducting Morsi. The EU said the Egyptian army should step aside and not play a role in politics. A senior Muslim Brotherhood official called on Egyptians to besiege the US Embassy for its alleged role in Morsi's ouster.

AFGHANISTAN's parliament has voted to dismiss the country's interior minister in a very public reprimand for the way his 157000-strong police force has failed to deliver security.
