WEEKEND BOX OFFICE:  Top Gun: Maverick easily repeated atop the chart with 86MM on a 32 percent drop that's the leggiest evah for a wide release that opened to over 100MM; the 291.6MM  domestic haul to date is also the best for a Tom Cruise movie evah --more than the total domestic run of any Tom Cruise movie evah (that's right: those Mission: Impossible movies aren't even close).  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness places with 9.25MM on a 43 percent drop (worldwide, it's the 2nd-biggest movie of the pandemic era and the 10th biggest MCU flick). And the Bob’s Burgers Movie shows with4.5MM on a 63 percent drop. Below the fold, the internet tricked Sony into re-issuing Morbius, and it bombed a second time.

All the more impressive in that it was fueeld by the 35+ demo which had been less likely to return to cinemas post-pandemic.  With an A+ CinemaScore, it will be really interesting to see how it holds up next weekend.  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness places with a 21MM 4-day total.  The Bob’s Burgers Movie shows with a 12.6MM debut.
