THE WEEKEND STARTS HERE:

...with THE B-52s!  The quirky combo from Athens, GA, has had a long and storied career, but we'll (mostly) stick to the early stuff this weekend.  So, from the self-titled debut, classics "Planet Claire," "Rock Lobster,"  "Lava," and "Dance This Mess Around." And from the sophomore LP, Wild Planet, "Party Out of Bounds," "Give Me Back My Man", "Private Idaho" and "Dirty Back Road."  BONUS: "Song For A Future Generation," because it's the first song I heard them play live. DOUBLE BONUS: "Deadbeat Club," because get off my lawn.

RON GALLO visits World Cafe via Italy.

PASTOR T.L. BARRETT plays a Tiny Desk Concert from church.

MAC McCAUGHAN shares "Burn a Fax."

FLEETWOOD MAC fired LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM. So why won't he let them go? Also, Stevie Nicks has words.

ARLO PARKS takes the Mercury Prize.

AFRIKA BAMBAATAA  and the Zulu Nation, the organization that he founded in the ’70s, are being sued for child sex trafficking.

R.E.M.'s New Adventures in Hi-Fi turns 25.

THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS has a full trailer online.

BENNIFER hits the Venice Film Festival.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE and Cooke Maroney are having their first child together.

JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT and husband Brian Hallisay have welcomed their third baby, son, Aidan James Hallisay.

KALEY CUOCO and PETE DAVISON? Not so fast.

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN may revisit WWII in his next project.

MICHAEL CONSTANTINE, an actor best known for playing the school principal on the TV series "Room 222" and, decades later, the patriarch in the hit film "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," has died at 94.

9/11: The first five minutes of CNN coverage. I came out of the shower, saw the second plane hit on NBC, and knew had had to contact my boss, whose daughter lived in NYC. There is still a lot of crazy stuff going on around the country and the world as a result, so consider taking a moment to watch and remember, esp. with a new generation that has grown up with no direct memory of the event.

A DOGGO, taking dinner on the couch.

OTTERS, having a spa day.

A WEINER DOG and his new bed.
