JIMI HENDRIX died 40 years ago Saturday, and I feel a bit bad about not making him the Friday Feature.  Billboard has video of five amazing performances.  The Hendrix in Britain exhibition at the Handel House Museum in Mayfair opened.  Roger Mayer, the navy acoustics engineer who created sound effects for the giants of the 1960s rock scene, talks about Jimi's unique sound. WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: The Town tops the chart with 23.8 million -- well above the 15 million or so gurus predicted, in a triumph for Ben Affleck as director and his strong supporting cast.  The Town should have no problem profiting on its 37 million budget.  Easy A has to settle for second with 18.2 million, but that's pretty darn good on an 8 million budget.  Devil shows with 12.6 million on a 10 million budget, though Universal reportedly paid 27 million to distribute it.  Resident Evil: Afterlife tumbled 62 percent to the No. 4 slot with 10.1 million.  Afterlife's 44 million against a 60 million budget looks tepid, until you remember it's already made almost as much overseas.  Alpha and Omega rounds out the Top Five with a floppy 9.2 million debut, which is even more disappointing when you consider there are no other kids' flicks in the Top Ten.

LINDSAY LOHAN failed multiple drug tests last week, which could derail her attempted comeback.  The actress is reportedly attending AA meetings and said on Twitter she's "working hard to overcome" her drug addiction.

THE FRENCH HOTEL has agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanors in her drug-possession case - and she will be sentenced to a year of probation but no jail time.
