THE WEEKEND STARTS HERE:

...with THE ZOMBIES! Their Odessey and Oracle 40th Anniversary concert, as they're finally performing the LP here in the US, years later.  Thus, your set list is: Care Of Cell 44, A Rose for Emily, Maybe After Hes Gone, Beachwood Park, Brief Candles, Hung Up On a Dream, Changes, I Want Her She Wants Me, This Will Be Our Year, Butcher's Tale (Western front 1914), Friends Of Mine, and Time Of The Season, with Tell Her No and Shes Not There as encores.

FUZZ: Ty Segall's power-trio advance streams the double-LP II.

CAR SEAT HEADREST advance streams Teens of Style.

DAVE GAHAN & SOULSAVERS: The Depeche Mode frontman advance streams Angels and Ghosts.

CHIC GAMINE advance streams Light a Match.

NEIL YOUNG: Sad Movies - The Secret History 1973-78

ST VINCENT: Annie Clark talked to Bon Appetit about waitressing at a family taqueria, and ended up apologizing to burrito lovers.

PATTI SMITH was moved to tears after a fan helped to reunite the singer with items stolen from her nearly 40 years ago.

PETER HOLSAPPLE talks about the Continental Drifters and the dB's with PopMatters. Sneakers even make an appearance in the piece.

JONI MITCHELL's health “is making good progress," according to a friend of Judy Collins.

NOW SHOWING:  This weekend's wide releases include Goosebumps, which is currently scoring 72 percent on the ol' Tomatometer; Bridge of Spies, currently scoring 92 percent; Crimson Peak, scoring 67 percent; and Woodlawn, currently unscreened for critics.

BRIDGE OF SPIES gets a solid B+ from me. I think I should expect more from Steven Spielberg directing from a screenplay co-written byt the Coen Bros.  But for whatever reason, I didn't, and thus don't feel disappointed.  The story of how John Donovan was pushed into representing a Soviet spy and ended up negotiating an exchange involving u-2 spy pilot Gary Powers is an interesting one, and a solid outing for Tom Hanks.  But it's less a Cold War thriller than a tale about those with honor and resolve... and those who don't. The film works on that level, even if done a bit obviously here.  Also, the contrast between the prosperous West and the desolated East could've been more subtle, but again, subtlety apparently was not the priority on this project.

LAMAR ODOM: The Kardashians are preparing to say goodbye to Lamar Odom as he lies in a coma after being found unresponsive in a Las Vegas-area brothel Tuesday night.

TAYLOR SWIFT learned a big lesson from VH-1's Behind the Music. (More cowbell?)

SCOTLAND: Two Libyans have been identified as suspects in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, nearly 27 years ago, Scottish and U.S. officials say.

IRAN's test this weekend of a new surface-to-surface ballistic missile "likely" violated a U.N. resolution, an administration official told CNN.  Iran also broadcast pictures from The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force of a missile facility tunnel reportedly dug some 1,640 feet (500 meters) under a mountain.

AFGHANISTAN: President Obama said Thursday he will keep 5500 U.S. troops in Afghanistan into 2017, ending his ambitions to bring home most American forces from that war-torn country before he leaves office.

A RATTLESNAKE PIT, captured with a GoPro. Snakes...why did it have to be snakes?
