P.F. SLOAN, the songwriting great behind classic singles like Barry McGuire's "Eve of Destruction" (written at age 19) and Johnny Rivers' "Secret Agent Man," as well as the member of the Wrecking Crew who played the guitar into to "California Dreamin'", and a founding member of The Grass Roots, passed away Monday night after a short bout with pancreatic cancer, the musician's representative confirmed to Rolling Stone. Sloan, who was born Philip Schlein, was 70.  Weekend Edition caught up with Sloan in 2006.
