NOT A TON OF POST-HOLIDAY NEWS FOR TODAY....but we have these:

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE (SORT OF):  The estimates aren't official, let alone the actuals, but Rogue One threepeats atop the early guesstimates and is almost the second-biggest movie of 2016, behind Finding Dory.  The spin-off has done quite well for itself, but might have lost a little momentum in this frame, if the actuals come in as guesstimated.  Sing places, bossted its sales over the prior holiday weekend, and is likely to land in the year's Top Ten grossers of the year.  Passengers shows, but is sliding from disappointment to bust, especially compared to expectations based on the supposed star power of Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. Moana likely takes the fourth spot, probably not bad given the strong competition from SingFences likely rounds out the Top Five, a strong showing for a film viewed more as awards bait (though perhaps a bit low for the preternaturally consistent Denzel Washington).

CARRIE FISHER & DEBBIE REYNOLDS will have a joint funeral.  The cause of Fisher's death remains unclear.

GEORGE MICHAEL's autopsy was also inconclusive.

RAY DAVIES of The Kinks is a knight.

MARIAH CAREY had a NYE lip-sync malfunction.

WILLIAM CHRISTOPHER, best known for playing Father Mulcahy on the hit sitcom M*A*S*H, died Saturday of lung cancer. He was 84. Stand by for the blessing.

ALLEN WILLIAMS, “the man who gave the Beatles away”, died at age 86.

TYRUS WONG, best known for his sketches for the Walt Disney animated feature Bambi, died Friday, according to a statement released by The Walt Disney Family Museum.  He was 106.
