NORM MACDONALD, whose laconic delivery of sharp and incisive observations made him one of Saturday Night Live‘s most influential and beloved cast members, died Tuesday after a nine-year private battle with cancer. He was 61. Macdonald, btw, mocked the idea of "losing the battle" to cancer.  Watch him tell the legendary "moth joke."  Hear the monologue from when he hosted SNL after being fired for continuing to tell OJ Simpson jokes that annoyed an NBC exec and Simpson friend Don Ohlmeyer.  And check out the Conan segment where he was second chair to Courtney Thorne-Smith.  Or his explanation of Bill Cosby to Serry Seinfeld.  Or his roast of Bob Saget, where he decided to read jokes out of an old book for retirement parties. He was a singular talent who always committed to the joke.
