LITTLE RICHARD, a/k/a Richard Penniman, who combined the sacred shouts of the black church and the profane sounds of the blues to create some of the world’s first and most influential rock ’n’ roll records, died of bone cancer on Saturday morning in Tullahoma, Tenn. He was 87.  Here's the Rolling Stone obit, as well as a self-profile Little Richard wrote for the magazine in 2004. Tributes have poured in from Mick Jagger & Keith Richards, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr, Pete Best, Brian Wilson, Jimmy Page, Chuck D, Slash, Chance the Rapper, Dave Davies, Teenage Fanclub's Norman Blake, Lloyd Cole, Stephen Malkmus, Jason Isbell, and many more. Brooklyn Vegan also busts out the covers.  For me, it will always be "The Girl can't Help It" and "Lucille," which were my go-to Little Richard tracks when I succeeded to Ken King's classic rock shift Saturday mornings on KUSR.

MARK LANEGAN: Stereogum excerpts his memoir, which has Screaming Trees' Gary Lee Conner (and likely others) a bit miffed.

BONO shares a playlist of 60 songs that changed his life for his 60th birthday.

BETTY WRIGHT, nown for R&B classics such as “Tonight Is the Night” and “No Pain, (No Gain),” Wright’s ubiquitous 1972 single “Clean Up Woman," has died at 66.

QUEEN guitarist Brian May has revealed he ended up in the hospital after injuring his buttocks during an incident in his garden.

THE NUMBER ONES looks at Stars On 45's "Stars On 45," an extremely strange Dutch Beatles-impersonator disco megamix that somehow blew up in the US.

ROY HORN, who levitated tigers, made elephants disappear, turned himself into a python and mesmerized Las Vegas audiences for decades as half of the famed illusionist team Siegfried & Roy, died on Friday in Las Vegas. He was 75. The cause was complications of Covid-19.

THE MANDALORIAN: Temuera Morrison, who played Jango Fett in 2002's 'StarWars: Attack of the Clones', will appear in season two as...
