VANGELIS,  the electronic-music pioneer who won an Oscar for “Chariots of Fire” and composed such other landmark film scores as “Blade Runner,” died Tuesday, the Athens News Agency reported. He was 79. Greek media reports say he died in a French hospital while being treated for COVID-19.

The Bad Guys places with 7MM on a 28 percent drop.  Sonic the Hedgehog 2 shows with 4.55MM on a 24 percent drop.  Firestarter flamed out with a 3.8MM debut that is less than the 1984 original's 4.7MM.  Everything Everywhere All at Once took in another 6.6MM on a 6 percent drop and could yet become the highest grossing film from the A24 studio.

FRED WARD, who starred in films including "Henry and June," "Tremors," "The Right Stuff" and "The Player," died May 8. He was 79.
