THE WEEKEND STARTS HERE: ... with THE BYRDS! Pretty much because I dig them as we turn into Spring (or Fall). Let's start with a rare 1965 clip of their breakthrough smash cover of "Mr. Tambourine Man." There are screaming girls, plus go-go dancers when they hit Shivaree for "All I Really Want to Do" and "Feel A Whole Lot Better." Next up is a rare sync of "I Knew I'd Want You." There are even more dancers when they cover Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away" for Shindig! on June 23, 1965, while I'm pretty sure that's Ed Wynn introducing "Chimes of Freedom." You might recognize the voice introducing "Bells Of Rhymney" from poolside in August 1965 and "It Won't Be Wrong" from a corral in January 1966 on Where The Action Is. BONUS: Want a couple in color? Here's "Turn, Turn, Turn!" and "Mr. Spaceman." DOUBLE BONUS: A rare 1967 sync of "Eight Miles High." BEN GIBBARD, Live at Home, Night 3. Includes The Decemberists' "Grace Cathedral Hill." BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN sprung London Calling: Live in Hyde Park for home viewing. WHERE TO STTREAM Live Concerts. BOYGENIUS joins HAYLEY WILLIAMS on "Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris." JOHN DARNIELLE performs "For the Snakes." DUFFY returns with "Something Beautiful." And it is. PATTERSON HOOD talks to Rolling Stone about staying creative during his quarantine. LIAM GALLAGHER asks NOEL for a post-virus Oasis reunion charity gig. DAVID BOWIE's Top 50, ranked by The Guardian. EUROVISION is canceled. Bing tiddle tiddle bong. NOW SHOWING? There are no new wide releases, but as noted earlier, some theatrical releases are coming out now on VOD. HARVEY WEINSTEIN moved to maximum security prison in upstate N.Y. EVANGELINE LILLY is taking a stand against self-quarantining during the coronavirus pandemic. There has been backlash. TOM HANKS' sister Sandra Hanks Benoiton revealed her brother is doing ‘not great, but still okay’. O.J. SIMPSON says he'll go 'crazy' if all golf courses are closed. STATES OF THE UNION, PT 1: The High Hopes (and Eventual Dread) of Kennedy-Era Filmmaking. SIMON PEGG & NICK FROST deliver their PSA. THE CAT Saved The Day. THIS DOG sings along to the Law & Order theme song every time he hears it. 14 ELEPHANTS broke into a village in Yunan province, looking for corn and other food. They ended up drinking 30kg of corn wine and they fell asleep in a nearby tea garden. (Probably were not drunk tho.) PET FOSTER APPLICATIONS are surging.
