Sing took the fourth slotwith 8MM on a 37 percent drop that's not bad after a long weekend.  La La Land rounded out the Top Five with 6.4MM and is proving quite profitable worldwide against a 30MM budget.  Below th fold, Rogue One lands in sixth place at breaks the billion-dollar barrier worldwide.

WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: Hidden Figures tops the chart with 20.5MM, a very leggy 10 percent drop from its debut, and likely a big profit for the studio.  La La Land placed with 14.5MM riding a 43 percent increas in biz after its Golden Globes sweep; this one's already well in the black against a 30MM budget.  Sing showed with 13.8MM on a 33 percent drop, and is approaching 400MM worldwide against a 75MM production budget.  Rogue One slipped to the fourth slot with 13.8MM on a 38 percent drop that's not bad considering it lost almost 1000 screens this weekend; it's also now the biggest-grossing film released in 2016.  The Bye Bye Man rounded out the Top Five with 13.4MM, which means a movie with bad reviews and abysmal Cinemascores may well make a tidy profit.  This is what happens when you go over a month without a horror film.  Below the fold, the expansion of Patriot's Day opens as a disappointing sixth with 12MM, though good reviews and an A+ Cinemascore suggests it might find its legs in the typically abysmal dumping grounds of January.  Monster Trucks had a seventh-place 10.5MM debut; the studio already took a 100MM writedown on this one.
